There is an important point that the vacuum cleaner slowly runs along of tatami mats. If the vacuum cleaner has tatami mat mode, let's choose it.

Dust cloth

When you use dust cloth, there the thing to watch out for is to use the well wrung out rag. Since the surface of the tatami mat has been coated, tatami mats are easy to peel off as the coating becomes easy to peel off when wiped with a damp cloth. After vacuum cleaner, wipe the tatami mat with the dry cloth. 

Ventilation

Finally, open the window of the room with tatami mats and improve the ventilation. It is also important to take measures to prevent direct hit of the sun's rays, because it may result in sunburn and discoloration of tatami.
